SYMPTOMSWhen you include a continuous section break at the end of a Word mail merge main document, Word does not start each merged record on page 1. Although Word inserts a new-page section break to separate each record's merged data, each section is treated as though it continues from the previous section. The disadvantage to this is that if you include page numbers in the main document, the page numbers in the merged document will be numbered sequentially. WORKAROUND
To maintain page numbers starting on page 1 as page 1 for each new
document, follow these steps:
