ID: Q120207

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft WordArt, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0b

SYMPTOMS

When double-clicking an existing WordArt object results in either of the following conditions

  • An error occurs stating the editor or associated program is not available or could not be found

  • -or-

  • No error occurs, but there is no action after you double-click the object

the object's contents or its association with the WordArt editor may be damaged or corrupted.

RESOLUTION

You may be able to correct this problem by converting the object back to a WordArt object. To convert a WordArt object:

  1. To select the object, click the object one time.

  2. From the Edit menu, choose WordArt Object, then choose Convert.

  3. In the Convert dialog box, select Microsoft WordArt 2.0 under Object Type. Confirm that Convert To is selected and then choose OK.

If after performing this procedure, double-clicking the object still does not activate the WordArt editor, the object is too severely corrupted or damaged to be converted back to a WordArt 2.0 object.
