SUMMARY

The Styles list contains a style called Definition,DFN. This style is used to apply character formatting, such as bold or bold italics, to an in-line word or phrase that is being defined. When Word converts this style, it is converted as the <DFN> tag, which is currently not supported under HTML Levels 0, 1, or 2. The Definition,DFN style is unrelated to the styles Definition List,DL and Definition Term,DT.

This tag is a proposed HTML Level 3 element and may be supported in the future. Although you can apply the Definition,DFN style, this tag is not widely supported at this time, and some browsers may not recognize it. The products listed at the beginning of this article correctly convert the Definition,DFN style to the <DFN> tag.
