  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c
  • Microsoft Word for Windows NT, version 6.0
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 6.0, 6.0.1

SYMPTOMS

Some or all of your comments are converted as normal text when you convert a WordPerfect 5.x for MS-DOS or Windows document into Microsoft Word.

CAUSE

This problem does not occur frequently. In instances where it does occur, it is triggered by uncommon combinations of formatting immediately preceding or following comment entries.

WORKAROUND

After your document is converted in Word, select comments that are converted as normal text and format them as hidden text.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the WordPerfect converter supplied with the versions of Microsoft Word listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

WordPerfect comments contain text that is not printed when you print the document. This is the equivalent of hidden text format in Word, and comments are normally converted as such.
