SYMPTOMS
When you paste a table column as Unformatted Text, Word pastes the text of
the entire table instead of just the column you copied.
This occurs when you select a column of a table, click the Copy button on
the tool bar, click Paste Special on the Edit menu, and then select
Unformatted Text.
It does not occur when you click Paste Link before selecting Unformatted
Text, nor does it occur when you choose one of the other Paste Special
options.
WORKAROUND
To paste only a column of a table, use the Paste Link option, and then
break the link:
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- Click Paste Link, and select Unformatted Text. Click OK.
The text appears in the document.
- Click the pasted text and press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 (Windows) or
COMMAND+SHIFT+F9 (Macintosh).
The text should be unlinked.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95 version
7.0. This problem has been corrected in Word 97 for Windows and Word 98
Macintosh Edition.
