Internet Assistant does not allow you to browse the World Wide Web unless you have an existing connection to the Internet. A connection to the Internet must be established through a private Internet service provider. In Windows 95 you can use Dial-up Networking to connect to your service provider.

The Dial-up Networking feature that ships with Windows 95 allows access to the following types of provider services:

CSLIP: Unix Connection with IP Header Compression
NRN: NetWare Connect
PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet
SLIP: Unix Connection
Windows for Workgroups and Windows NT 3.1
