To work around this problem, modify your macro to insert the text string into the document, select it, and then use the EditAutoText command to add the selection to the AutoText entry list. The following sample macro demonstrates this method:

   Sub MAIN
      On Error GoTo Bye
      name$ = InputBox$("Insert the name of the AutoTextEntry to create:")
      entry$ = InputBox$("Enter the text of the AutoText Entry " + name$)
      entry$ = CleanString$(entry$)
        If Len(entry$) < 255 Then
           SetAutoText name$, entry$
        Else
           SP = GetSelStartPos()
           Insert entry$
           EP = GetSelStartPos()
           SetSelRange SP, EP
           EditAutoText name$, .Add
           EditClear
        End If
   Bye:
   End Sub
