Buttons for Starting Bookshelf Are Missing

ID: Q142963

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

After you install Bookshelf '95 or Microsoft Office Professional for Windows 95 and Bookshelf '95, the QuickShelf toolbar, and the Bookshelf Daily And Define commands in the View menu are unavailable.

CAUSE

Bookshelf '95 integration with Word 7.0 has changed from previous versions. In previous versions of Word, there was a separate toolbar or a toolbar button for Bookshelf; in addition, the menu commands in Word 7.0 have changed from those in previous versions of Word.

RESOLUTION

The QuickShelf buttons are now available on the Office Shortcut Bar.

Information on the new integration can be found on the Tools menu. A new selection has been added called "Lookup Reference." There is also a Define command when you use the right mouse button to click a word. This functionality has been added by .wll files. To locate these files, click Templates on the File menu and look in Global Templates And Add-Ins.

The .wll files that enable Bookshelf integration are as follow:

Bsh32.wll
Msreftlw.wll
These .wll files should be present in the MSOffice\Winword\Startup folder so that they will be loaded correctly.
