WD6X: TextBox Control Reverts to Automatic Width in Dialog Editor

ID: Q153799

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 6.0, 6.0.1

SYMPTOMS

If you create a dialog box that includes a text box in the Dialog Editor, copy this dialog box definition to a macro editing window, manually change the width or height of the text box, and then copy and paste this code back into the Dialog Editor, the width setting changes to Automatic.

For example, this problem occurs if you manually change either the third number or both the third and the fourth number in the following code:

   TextBox 6, 8, 160, 18, .TextBox1
Button controls are not reverted to Automatic when you paste the dialog box definition back into the Dialog Editor.

This problem does not occur in Microsoft Word for Windows version 6.x and later.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not paste the dialog box definition into the dialog editor after you modify the width or both the width and the height arguments of the text box control.
