SYMPTOMSInserting a Microsoft Word Document object in Word 95 starts a Word 97 document session. CAUSEMicrosoft Word allows for only one Word OLE server on a system. STATUSThis functionality is by design of Microsoft Word for Windows. MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Word does not allow multiple Word OLE servers to coexist on
the same system. If Microsoft Word 97 and Microsoft Word 95, version 7.0
are installed on the same system, any attempt to insert a Microsoft Word
Document object into Word 95 results in a Word 97 document object being
inserted. This is because the Word OLE server registers itself into the
Windows Registration database. Only the latest OLE server installed and
registered is available as an OLE object.
