SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) document, Word displays it similar to the way it would appear in a Web browser, instead of displaying the HTML source code and tags, such as: <HTML> CAUSE
This behavior occurs after you install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, if
Internet Assistant for Word has not been installed.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextconvAfter Html32.cnv is installed there, Word will use this converter unless you manually confirm file conversions when opening documents. WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, select a Text Only conversion at the time you
open the HTML document. To do this, follow these steps:
MORE INFORMATIONIf you do not have Internet Explorer 4.0 or Internet Assistant for Word installed, Word 7.x will open HTML documents as text only. Additional query words: IA IE wysiwyg
