SYMPTOMSWhen you open a Microsoft Word 97 document containing an updated object in Microsoft Word 6.x, the object does not reflect changes made in Word 97 when all of the following are true:
CAUSEYou opened the Word 97 document file using the Word 97 Import Converter, Msword8.cnv. The version of this converter that you are using does not properly convert updated objects in Word 97 that were originally created in Word 7.x for Windows 95. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of the Word 97 Import Converter. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Q162214 How to Obtain the Word 97-2000 Import Converter Temporary WorkaroundTo temporarily work around this problem, you can save the document from Word 97 as either Rich Text Format (*.rtf) or Word 6.0/95 (*.doc). Either of the converters properly displays the updated object. To do this, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem with certain versions of the Word 97 Import converter. This problem is corrected in the version of the converter available with Microsoft Office 97 SR-2.
