Many versions of BASIC support the END command to exit the current program. Although the Microsoft Word for Windows WordBasic macro language is similar to BASIC, it does not support this command. Using END causes a macro error.

To exit out of a WordBasic macro, use the following:

  • A Goto statement with a Lable just before End Sub.

    Sub Main
Msgbox "This is the first message box"
       Goto Bye
MsgBox "This is the second message box that will not appear"

     Bye:

     End Sub

  • -or-

  • Use the STOP command. The STOP command will initiate a dialog box stating "Macro Interrupted".
