Deleting Header/Footer Text Does Not Delete Paragraph Mark

SUMMARY
When you delete the text in the header/footer section of Word for
Windows, the paragraph mark remains so that the area still displays
under Page View.
Word for Windows was designed so that the paragraph mark remains and
marks where the text was in the header/footer section; otherwise
background repagination would remove the header if you had an empty
header.
One method to remove the blank space of the header or footer isto go
to Page layout view, then turn on Text Boundaries under Tool, Options,
View Catagory. Click OK to return to the document. Perform this step
again and the header or footer space will disappear.
