WORD_DCA Abnormal Termination Errors in Word 5.00

ID: Q65055

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for MS-DOS, version 5.0

SUMMARY

When you are converting a DCA/RFT file to Microsoft Word format using the WORD_DCA.EXE utility supplied with Word version 5.0, the following are possible abnormal error messages that may be received:

  1. If the file(s) in the input file list do not have a valid filename extension:

          DCA/RFT (F) : ABNORMAL TERMINATION

             Primary return code = 51
             Secondary return code = 0
Probable cause: Input file open failure.
If no extension is typed, the program assumes that the file to be converted has an RFT extension. Entering the filename followed by a period in the input file list forces the conversion utility to look for the file without adding the RFT extension.

  2. If the files setting in your CONFIG.SYS files is not great enough:

          DCA/RFT (F) : ABNORMAL TERMINATION

             Primary return code = 51
             Secondary return code = 0
Probable cause: Cannot open sub document section table file
