Normal Variant Replaces Standard Variant

SUMMARY

The "Standard" variant for Division/Section and Paragraph styles has been replaced in Word version 5.50 and later by the "Normal" variant.

From the Format menu, choose Define Styles (ALT, T, D) and select New Style from the Insert menu (ALT, I, N). In the Style I.D. field, the default style for paragraphs and sections is called "Normal". Previous versions of Microsoft Word referred to this default style as "Standard".
