SYMPTOMS
There is no direct way for Microsoft Word for Windows to read a Microsoft
Windows cardfile file. However, a cardfile may be imported by printing the
cardfile to a file using the Generic/Text-Only printer driver, then
importing the file as text.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, choose one of the following methods:
Method 1. Import a cardfile into Word for Windows
To import a cardfile file into Word, do the following:
- Install the Generic/Text Only printer driver.
- Connect the Generic/Text Only driver to the File port.
- Open Cardfile, then load the appropriate cardfile.
- In Cardfile, choose Printer Setup from the File menu, and
select the Generic/Text Only printer on File.
- In Cardfile, choose Print All from the File menu.
- A dialog box will pop up, requesting a filename to print to.
Provide a suitable name and a path, if desired.
- Start Word for Windows.
- In Word for Windows, choose Open from the File menu, and open
the printer file, using the same name provided in step f,
above.
- Word for Windows will display a list of conversion choices.
Choose Text in the Convert From list box, then choose OK to
begin the conversion.
- The cardfile will now be displayed in Word for Windows, ready
for further editing.
Method 2
Select an address in Cardfile, and then copy and paste the address into
Word.
