Word: Importing AutoCAD HPGL Graphic Files

ID: Q75121

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for MS-DOS, versions 5.0, 5.5

SUMMARY

When importing an HPGL graphic file from Autodesk AutoCAD into a Microsoft Word version 5.0 or 5.5 document with page dimensions less then 8.5 by 11 inches, Word will display the image plus unwanted white space. To correctly eliminate the extra white space, the image must be resized or "stretched" from within AutoCAD to fully occupy a full printed page.

MORE INFORMATION

When linking an HPGL file into a Word document, the graphic file will be treated as a full printed page. Therefore, the image must be resized or stretched within AutoCAD to take up a full page. Once this is accomplished, the graphic can then be adjusted to the correct dimensions within Word when inserting the image into the document.
