SUMMARY

Flashing Busy and On Line lights on a DeskJet, DeskJet PLUS, or DeskJet 500 indicate a paper jam in the printer. If you attempt printing at this point, Microsoft Word for DOS versions 5.0 and 5.5, give the error message "Printer Not Ready."

Paper jams can be caused by feeding paper into the printer incorrectly or feeding an improper paper size into the printer. Removing the paper causing the jam should stop the Busy and On Line lights from flashing and allow you to print from Word.
