Fonts Not Displaying in New Bullet List in Word for Windows

ID: Q77992

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for Windows version 2.0, if you choose Bullets and Numbering from the Tools menu, select Bullets, and choose New Bullet, Word displays a list box of fonts. The only fonts that Word lists are fonts from the Decorative font family or fonts with a non-ANSI/OEM character set (for example, Symbol and ZapfDingbats). Fonts that do not appear are fonts such as Times Roman and Helvetica.

MORE INFORMATION

If you want to use a font not listed, you can type the name of the font in the Symbol From box. The font display does not update automatically; you must select one of the characters in the font display to prompt the font display to update and display your chosen font. For example, if you want to choose from the Courier font set, type Courier in the Symbol From box. Choose any cell in the font display to view the Courier characters. Now you can choose your New Bullet character from the Courier font set.
