SUMMARY
In Microsoft Word for Windows, if you create a bookmark from selected text
and later add text immediately to the left of the bookmark, the new text
becomes part of the bookmark.
Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Create a new document, and type aaa1bbb2ccc.
- Select the number 1 from the example above. From the Insert menu, choose
Bookmark, and name it b1. Choose the OK button.
- Go to the end of your document (CTRL+END). Press the Goto key (F5), type
b1 on the status bar, and press ENTER.
- Use the LEFT ARROW key to move one space before the beginning of the
bookmark. Type some new text.
- Move to another point in your document. From the Insert menu, choose
Field, select Reference, and type b1 in the Field code box. This inserts
a {Ref b1} field. The new text from step 4 is now part of the bookmark.
NOTE: This behavior does not occur if you type text to the right of the
bookmark.
