Introduction
------------

The DW0208 disk included with this Application Note contains the
following files:

   IBM4019A.DAT
   IBM4019B.DAT
   IBM4019C.DAT
   IBMXL24D.DAT

These .DAT files correct problems in the .DAT files originally shipped
in the Word package. The original .DAT files cause Word to hang (stop
responding) when it is downloading fonts and printing to the IBM 4019
Laser Printer and the IBM Proprinter XL24.

To Install the Updated .DAT Files
---------------------------------

Use the following instructions to copy the appropriate .DAT file from
the enclosed disk to your hard disk. To determine the appropriate .DAT
file, start Word, choose Printer Setup from the File menu, and note
the name of the .PRD file in the Printer File box. The .DAT filename
must match the .PRD filename.

1. Exit Word.

2. Insert the enclosed DW0208 disk in your floppy disk drive.

3. At the MS-DOS command prompt, type the following command and press
   ENTER

      copy <drive>:\<filename>.DAT <destination>

   where <drive> is the floppy disk drive containing the DW0208 disk,
   <filename> is the name of the .PRD file you have selected in the
   Printer Setup dialog box, and <destination> is the path to your
   Word program directory (that is, the drive and directory where your
   Word for MS-DOS program files reside). For example, if the DW0208
   disk is in drive A, the name of the printer driver is IBM4019A.PRD,
   and your Word program directory is on drive C and is called
   WORD6DOS, type the following command:

      copy a:\ibm4019a.dat c:\word6dos

With the new .DAT file in place, you should be able to print using
your downloadable fonts without Word hanging.
