SUMMARY
When you run the custom installation for Word version 2.0b or 2.0c for
Windows, Setup creates a new version of the WW20.REG file, which overwrites
the original WW20.REG file. The new WW20.REG file contains information only
for those options that you most recently installed. If you do not install
all the options, the new WW20.REG file is incomplete.
WorkaroundTo fully restore a WW20.REG file that has been overwritten with incomplete registration information, do the following:

WW20.REG is a registration file used as a backup for information kept in
the REG.DAT file. WW20.REG contains complete registration information for
all the applications or utilities listed in the REG.DAT file, and can be
used to rebuild a damaged or deleted REG.DAT file.
