Color Paragraph Shading Lost During RTF Conversion

ID: Q99877

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for MS-DOS, version 6.0

SUMMARY

When you convert a Word for MS-DOS document to rich-text format (RTF), the Background Shading Color setting changes to black. Paragraph border and Background Shading Percentage settings are unaffected by conversion to RTF format.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

This limitation may affect the following operations:

  1. Conversion to and from other word processing file formats (many converters use RTF as an intermediate file format).

  2. Saving documents in RTF format to remove file corruption.

Note: Word version 5.5 does not maintain any paragraph shading during RTF conversion.
