WD97: Documents May Be Deleted from ODMA System

SYMPTOMS

When you are using Word 97 for Windows in conjunction with an ODMA-compliant Document Management System (DMS) and you quit the DMS while Word 97 has documents open through the DMS, and you then attempt to save the open documents, the original documents may be deleted from the disk.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Word 2000.
