WD97: HasHorizontal/HasVertical Return True for Single Object

ID: Q164816

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you use the HasHorizontal or HasVertical Properties on a single specified object(for example, a single table cell or paragraph), the property returns True instead of False as expected. Visual Basic for Applications Help for these properties states the properties should return False for a single specified object, as in the following:

HasHorizontal/HasVertical Property

True if a vertical border can be applied to the specified object.
The remarks section for these properties further states:
Vertical borders can be applied to ranges that contain cells in two or more columns of a table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Visual Basic for Applications Help information is misleading. A horizontal or vertical border can also be applied to a range that contains a single cell in a single row of a table or to a single paragraph.
