WD97: Invalid Page Fault Typing Symbol in Equation Editor 3.0

SYMPTOMS
When you type or insert a symbol in Microsoft Equation Editor version 3.0,
you may receive the following, or similar, error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details, you receive the following error message:
EQUATION caused an invalid page fault in module EQNEDT32.EXE at
<address>.
CAUSE
The font specifications are missing from the Equation Editor style
definitions.
RESOLUTION
To specify the fonts for the Equation Editor to use, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, click Object.
- On the Create New tab, under Object type, click Microsoft Equation 3.0
and then click OK.
- Do not type any characters. On the Style menu, click Define.
- Enter font names for all the styles. The defaults are listed in the
following table.
