SYMPTOMS
When you save a file in Microsoft Word 97 SR-1 as a Word 6.0 or Word 7.0
document, there are two different Word 6.0/95 converters listed in the Save
As Type box.
CAUSE
You have installed any of the following:
MORE INFORMATIONWord 6.0/95 (*.doc)When you save your document using this file converter, it is saved in a binary file format with a .doc extension. This binary file format is the same native file format that both Word 6.0 and Word 95 (version 7.0) use.NOTE: In the non-patched version of Word 97, this converter saves your file in Rich Text Format (RTF).
