XL2000: Some Commands Are Not Listed in the Customize Dialog Box

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Customize dialog box in Microsoft Excel to change the Worksheet menu bar, the following commands may be missing from the Commands list.

NOTE: There is a Custom Views command in the Commands list. However this command has a drop-down list box. The original Custom Views command does not have a drop-down list box.


CAUSE

This problem occurs when you click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Commands tab to add a command that is listed in the table in the "Symptoms" section.


WORKAROUND

You can restore some of the commands by removing, and then adding the reference to an add-in. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Add-ins.


  2. Click to clear the Add-In name check box. Click OK.

  3. On the Tools menu, click Add-ins.


  4. Click to select the Add-In name check box. Click OK.


Restoring the Commands That Are Not Created by Add-ins

Installing an add-in does not restore the following commands:

   Links
   Objects
   Custom Views
   Goal Seek
   Add-ins 

To restore these commands, follow these steps.

NOTE: By following these steps, you reset the entire Worksheet toolbar.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Toolbars tab.


  2. Click Worksheet Menu Bar. If you clear the Worksheet Menu Bar check box, click the check box again to select it.


  3. Click Reset.

  • On the Tools menu, click Customize.

    -or-


  • Point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Customize.

    -or-


  • Move the mouse pointer over the toolbar or menu bar, and then right-click it. Click Customize on the shortcut menu.
