XL2000: Toolbars Don't Resize After Closing Print Preview

SYMPTOMS

When you close print preview and return to normal view, the Standard and Formatting toolbars extend only half way across the width of the Excel window.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs after you view a Help topic in print preview, and the Help window is docked to the left or right. Excel does not resize the toolbar to fill the available area after you close the Help topic and return to normal view.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior and have the toolbars resize to fill the available area, use either of the following methods:

• Return to print preview and then click Close.
  
  -or-



• Undock one toolbar by dragging it to the worksheet area and then dragging it back to the toolbar area.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
