XL2000: AutoSave Settings Are Not Retained Between Sessions of Excel 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Excel, the settings that you previously specified for the AutoSave feature are not retained.


RESOLUTION

An upgraded version of the AutoSave Add-in that fixes this problem is now available from Microsoft.

Downloading the AutoSave Add-in Upgrade

The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center. Click the file name below to download the file:
ASUpdate.EXE

Installing the AutoSave Add-in Upgrade

In Windows Explorer, double-click the Asupdate.exe file to install the AutoSave Add-in upgrade on your computer.

NOTE: You may need to insert your Microsoft Office 2000 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive in order to install this upgrade. If you need to update your administrative installation point, follow these steps:
  1. In Windows Explorer, create a folder named Autosave in the root directory.


  2. On the Start menu, click Run.


  3. In the Open box, type path\Asupdate.exe /t:c:\autosave /c, where path is the full path to the Asupdate.exe file, and then click OK.


  4. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.


  5. Copy the Autosave.xla file from the C:\Autosave folder on your hard disk to the \Pfiles\Msoffice\Office\Library folder on your server.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
