SBFM2000: Accounts in Incorrect Categories After Updating Accounting Data

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager, included with:

SYMPTOMS

When you update your accounting data in the Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager (SBFM), the accounts listed in your reports are in the incorrect account category. For example, an operating expense account shows up under fixed assets.


CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:

  • You import accounting data from Intuit QuickBooks for Windows.

    -and-


  • In QuickBooks for Windows, you change the category for an account or add a new account in your QuickBooks accounting file.

    -and-


  • You update your accounting data and then recalculate reports in the Microsoft Small Business Financial Manager.



WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, reimport your accounting data into the SBFM. To reimport your data, click Import Wizard on the Financial Manager menu.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
