XL2000: Objects Appear in Wrong Location in Netscape Navigator

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Web page that you have saved in Microsoft Excel, one or more objects do not appear in the correct location on the page. Most often, the object(s) will appear in the upper-left corner of the page.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

• Your Excel worksheet contains one or more of the following objects:
  
  
  • Charts
  • Office Art
  • Clip Art Objects
  • Pictures
  • Text Boxes
  • WordArt
  • Any object inserted from the Object dialog box.
  
  -and-
  
  
• One or more of the objects are positioned over cells that contain non-default formatting or data.
  
  -and-
  
  
• You save your Excel workbook in the HTML file format.
  
  -and-
  
  
• You open the HTML file in Netscape Navigator version 4.0 or later.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, follow these steps:

1. Open the file in Excel.



2. Position any objects on the worksheet so that they do not overlap cells that contain data or formatting.



3. Save the file.
