XL2000: Currency in Data Table Is Displayed in U.S. Dollars and Not Currency Specified in Regional Settings

ID: Q235105

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 2000

SYMPTOMS

In Web page preview, when you view a chart sheet that has a data table containing currency information, the numbers in the data table are displayed in U.S. dollars ($) rather than the currency specified under Regional Settings in Control Panel.

NOTE: The data on the chart retains its currency formatting.

CAUSE

This behavior only occurs when you preview the page by clicking Web Page Preview on the File menu. This behavior does not occur when you save the file as a Web page.

This behavior also does not occur when you use Web Page Preview on a chart and data table embedded on a worksheet.

RESOLUTION

Save the chart as a Web page. To do this, click Save as Web Page on the File menu.

NOTE: The currency is still displayed in U.S. dollars in Web page preview, even after you save the file as a Web page.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
