XL2000: "Compile error in hidden module: RegistrationDB" Error Starting Excel

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you start or exit Microsoft Excel, you receive an error message similar to the following:

Compile error in hidden module: RegistrationDB


CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:

  • A file named Pdfwrite.xla is in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Xlstart folder on your hard disk.


    • -and-

  • You have upgraded to Excel 2000 from Excel 7.0 or earlier.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, remove the Pdfwrite.xla file from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Xlstart folder on your hard disk.

When you install some versions of Adobe Acrobat, the installation program places the Pdfwrite.xla file on your computer.
