SYMPTOMSWhen sheets are in group mode and data is entered in a cell and formatted, the formatting may not be applied to merged cells on other sheets in the group. CAUSECells that are included as component cells by merged cells on one sheet can still be selected on other sheets. When sheets are in group mode, Microsoft Excel will not apply formatting from component cells on one sheet to the merged cell on another sheet unless the component cell chosen corresponds to the upper left cell of the merged cell. RESOLUTIONIn order to have the formatting of component cells on grouped sheets apply to the merged cell, you must apply the formatting manually. STATUSThis behavior is by design of Microsoft Excel 97. MORE INFORMATIONThe merged cell's address is the upper left most cell of the range of cells selected for the merged cell. When formatting is applied to the merged cell's component cells on other sheets, the formatting is not applied to the merged cell unless the cell selected on the other sheets is the upper left most cell of the merged cell range.
