Using the Dialog Converter

The Dialog Converter simplifies the task of converting a Microsoft Excel 5.0 or 7.0 dialog sheet to a Microsoft Excel 97 UserForm. The conversion process creates the UserForm in the existing workbook and retains the Microsoft Excel 5.0 or 7.0 dialog sheet.

NOTE: To use this add-in file, you must have Microsoft Excel 97.

When you use the add-in to convert a dialog sheet to a UserForm, follow these steps:

  1. To ensure that the Dialog Converter add-in is selected in the Add-Ins dialog box, click Add-Ins on the Tools menu, click to select the Dialog Converter 97 check box, and then click OK.

  2. Open the Microsoft Excel 5.0 or 7.0 file that contains the dialog sheet that you want to convert.

The add-in converts one or more of the dialog sheets in a file.

  3. To start the add-in in Microsoft Excel 97, click Convert Dialogs on the Tools menu.

  4. Click the Converter tab to select the dialog sheet to convert.

Click the Position tab to change the top and left properties of the controls on the dialog and frame.

Click the Options tab to change how the add-in converts the dialog. For example, you can click "Backup original project before making modifications," "Name new controls based on previous control names," and "Use standard control dimensions where possible."

Click the About tab to find information about the add-in.

  5. Click OK to generate a UserForm that is based on the dialog sheet you selected in the Converter tab.

  6. When the "The conversion was successfully completed" message appears, Click OK. Please save the file, close, and then reopen Excel before you continue to work.

  7. To save the workbook, click Save on the File menu.

  8. To quit Microsoft Excel, click Exit on the File menu.

When you open the file again, you can view the UserForm in the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor (press ALT+F11).
