XL97: Invalid Page Fault After Pasting Control

SYMPTOMS

You may receive one of the following error messages after you paste a control that you copied from a worksheet that has since been deleted:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive an error message similar to the following:
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at 0137:300aa293.
-or-
EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in module EXCEL.EXE at 0137:300fb635.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if you copy a control that has been placed on a worksheet, delete the worksheet, and then paste the control onto another worksheet. The error may occur at the moment you paste the control, or when you close the file.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

This error can occur after pasting any of the controls that you create using the Forms toolbar.
