SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to create a user-defined custom chart type in Microsoft Excel 97, the following error message appears:
When you click OK, you are prompted to save the Xlusrgal.xls file in the default documents folder (usually C:\My Documents). CAUSE
This problem occurs when you do the following:
-and- RESOLUTIONTo correct this problem, install Microsoft Excel 97 Service Release 1 (SR-1). STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97. This
problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel SR-1.

In Microsoft Excel, you can create a custom chart type. With a custom
chart type, you can specify the custom formatting and options you want to
include for a particular chart style. Custom chart types you add are stored
in the Xlusrgal.xls file in the location specified in the GalleryPath
registry setting for Microsoft Excel 97.
