SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Excel 97, when you open a workbook, some of the formatting that is applied to a cell comment in the workbook is lost. CAUSE
This problem occurs if you share the workbook by clicking Share Workbook on
the Tools menu and selecting the check box in the Editing tab of the Share
Workbook dialog box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATIONIn Microsoft Excel 97, you can apply many kinds of formatting to text in a cell comment. However, when you share a workbook, only bold and italic comment formatting is retained. When you save and close a shared workbook, all of the following formatting is lost:
If you unshare the workbook, all comment formatting is retained when you
save and close the workbook.
