XL98: Can Change Protected Document's Properties with VB Macro

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, you can change the document properties of a protected workbook through a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications macro, even though you cannot change the document properties manually.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

To bring up the Document Properties dialog box (where Document is the name of your document), click Properties on the File menu. To protect your workbook, point to Protection on the Tools menu, and then click Protect Workbook. When you protect the structure of the workbook, the Properties command on the File menu becomes unavailable.
