ACC: Subform Control's Exit Event Not Activated (1.x/2.0)

SYMPTOMS

Moderate: Requires basic macro, coding, and interoperability skills.

The macro specified for a subform control's OnExit property does not run if you exit the control by selecting a control on the main form with the mouse. The macro runs only if you select another subform control.

CAUSE

To activate the Exit event of a control on a subform, you must select another control on the subform.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

1. Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.



2. Create a new macro that uses the Msgbox action to display any text. Save the macro as Test.



3. Open the Categories Subform form in Design view.



4. Attach the Test macro to the Product Name control's OnExit property. Save and then close the form.



5. Open the Categories form in Form view. Select the Product Name field in the subform. Press ENTER and a message box with the text you entered in the macro in step 2 will appear.



6. Select the Product Name field again. Click anywhere in the main form. Note that the message box does not appear.
