ACC2: GP Fault Choosing Undo Property Setting in Table Design

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you are viewing a table in Design view, and you choose the Undo Property Setting command, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault in MSACCESS.EXE.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if you change the FieldSize property setting of a Number field from Double to another size, and then choose Undo Property Setting from the Edit menu.


RESOLUTION

Instead of choosing Undo Property Setting to restore the field's FieldSize property setting, select the setting you want from the list of available settings.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 2.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 7.0.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

WARNING: Following these steps will cause a general protection fault on your computer. Make sure you save and close any open work on your computer before following these steps.
  1. Start Microsoft Access and open any database.


  2. Create a new table.


  3. Add a field with a Number data type to the table.


  4. Set the field's FieldSize property setting to anything other than Double.


  5. From the Edit menu, choose Undo Property Setting. Note that you receive a GP fault error message.
