ACC95: Analyze It w/Excel Fails to Transfer Only Selected Fields

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you run Microsoft Access version 7.0 under Windows 95, the Analyze It With MS Excel command transfers an entire table to Microsoft Excel instead of only selected columns.


RESOLUTION

Create a query with only the selected fields, and then use the Analyze It With MS Excel command on the query results.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access version 7.0. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 7.0a.

Steps to Reproduce Problem


  1. Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.


  2. Open the Order Details table in Datasheet view.


  3. Select the Product and UnitPrice columns.


  4. On the Tools menu, click OfficeLinks, and then click Analyze It With MS Excel. Note that Microsoft Access transfers the entire Order Details table instead of only the two columns that you selected.
