ACC95: Incorrect Word DDE Example in Building Applications

ID: Q153465

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access 7.0

SYMPTOMS

Advanced: Requires expert coding, interoperability and multi-user skills.

The Word Basic sample procedure on page 290 of the "Building Applications with Microsoft Access for Windows 95" manual does not properly create the Mydata.txt text file.

CAUSE

The Mydata.txt text file is created incorrectly because of a misspelled variable, strData. This causes a "0" to appear in the text file instead of the actual data from the correct variable, strData$.

RESOLUTION

This article assumes that you are familiar with Word Basic and with creating Microsoft Word documents using the programming tools provided with Microsoft Word.

Change the following line in the sub MAIN procedure

   Print #1, strData

to read as follows:

   Print #1, strData$
