ACC: Text Label Truncated Printing Form on Epson 9-Pin Printer

ID: Q96100

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Access versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 7.0, 97

SYMPTOMS

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.

When you print a form or report to an Epson 9-pin printer, the last two characters of the label controls may be truncated. The label controls are displayed correctly when you preview the report.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by the difference in size of the Epson printer driver fonts and the screen fonts. By default, forms create controls with screen fonts when the LayoutForPrint property is set to No. When the form or report is printed, the printer fonts are used, and Epson's printer fonts are larger then the screen fonts. Therefore, fewer characters fit in the same space when the form or report is printed.

RESOLUTION

Set the form or report's LayoutForPrint property to Yes before you add any controls to the form or report. Or, set the LayoutForPrint property to Yes, select all the controls on the form or report, and apply the SizeToFit option to size the label controls to fit the data they contain.
