OrgChart: How to Add More Than Four Lines to an Org Chart Box

ID: Q132385

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Organization Chart, version 2.0
  • Microsoft Office 2000
  • Microsoft Office 97 for Windows
  • Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition

SUMMARY

To add more than the default four lines to an Organization Chart box, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new Organization Chart.

  2. Select one of the subordinates boxes.

  3. On the Styles menu, click the Elongated Box style.

  4. Add a subordinate to the box you selected in step 2.

  5. Click the new subordinate, and use the drag operation to move it to the box before it.

This should combine the two boxes. They can both be expanded to four levels each, and all levels appear in the same box. Repeat steps 1 through 5 as desired to add additional lines.

MORE INFORMATION

This style can be applied to the entire chart. For more interesting effects, try the following formats:

  • Different sizes of boxes on the same level.

  • Groups of boxes (for example, you can group boxes into departments)

  • Many lines of text in a box
