Microsoft Equation Editor, version 1.0
SUMMARY
When you use the Microsoft Equation Editor, which ships with Microsoft
Word for Windows version 2.0, in the Microsoft Windows operating
system version 3.0 with a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet printer or a
dot-matrix printer, you must use a font manager to print the Equation
Editor fonts. The font manager enables non-PCL and non-PostScript
printers to use Equation Editor fonts. This article describes how to
use one specific font manager, Adobe Type Manager (ATM), to install
Equation Editor fonts.
ATM recognizes only PostScript Type 1 fonts. To obtain the Equation
Editor PostScript fonts, you must install a PostScript driver through
the Windows Control Panel and make the corresponding printer the
default printer. After installing the driver, you must run a custom
installation of Word for Windows to reinstall the Equation Editor
only. With the PostScript printer active, the Equation Editor installs
the PostScript fonts that are recognized by the ATM control panel.
When you run Word for Windows version 2.0 with Windows 3.1, no font
manager is required. The TrueType font technology of Windows 3.1
allows any printer to print the Equation Editor fonts.
