XL: Error If MarkerBackgroundColorIndex Property Incorrectly Set

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications, if the MarkerBackgroundColorIndex or the MarkerForegroundColorIndex property of a line chart is set to xlNone, you may receive the following error message:

Run-Time error '1005'
Unable to set the MarkerBackgroundColorIndex property of the Legend Key Class.

To work around this error message, use the following example to call a Microsoft Excel 4.0 macro to set the MarkerBackgroundColorIndex property to xlNone.
Application.ExecuteExcel4Macro _
("PATTERNS(1,1,25,2,0,1,1,57,FALSE,FALSE)")


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows and Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition.


MORE INFORMATION

The MarkerBackgroundColorIndex property returns or sets the marker background color as an index into the current color palette (a value from one to 56). This property works for line, scatter, and radar charts only.
