XL97: Analysis ToolPak Functions Return #VALUE!

ID: Q165134

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you enter or edit a formula that contains a function provided by the Analysis ToolPak add-in, the formula may return a #VALUE! error.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when you create a reference to Atpvbaen.xla in a Visual Basic for Applications module sheet.

If you remove the reference to Atpvbaen.xla, when you enter or edit a formula that contains a function provided by the Analysis ToolPak add-in, the formula returns the #NAME? error.

NOTE: If you do not edit an existing formula containing an Analysis ToolPak function after establishing a reference to Atpvbaen.xla, Microsoft Excel calculates the formula as expected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
